Dealing Boards Issues

There are a growing number of board suppliers offering a range of boards; unfortunately the quality varies from supplier to supplier, batch to batch and even colour to colour. With this in mind we have attempted to provide our users with the flexibility needed to take advantage of the products and prices that are on offer, by providing a range of functions/adjustments to accommodate boards of different colours, thickness and the misshapes that some brands tend acquire during use.

1. Thickness Adjustment – due to the nature of manufacture some boards are thicker or thinner than others and in time may twist or warp, a simple adjustment mechanism is located under the Board Pocket which provide either a tighter or looser fit (see Adjustments Manual)

2. Board Switch – we provide the machine with an infrared photo-interrupter switch, this is more effective than the former micro-switch that we used, as twisted boards could avoid making or keeping contact with the switch. The new switch is a light-beam that is broken when the board is inserted, thereby starting the dealing process. We have found that boards of different colour may have less opacity to block out the infrared beam, thus the dealing process will not start or may start as the board is inserted but stop when fully inserted. Whilst this can sometimes be rectified by simply making a black marker pen mark on the board or applying some black tape, where it makes contact with the photo-interrupter (see below), our recommended solution is to use our Board Recognition System as the dealing switch by choosing this function on the Maintenance Screen (bottom right quarter of the page), this gives you perfect dealing operation and the security of knowing that you are dealing the cards into the correct board.
